Fall Winter Exclusive: Leather: Rated "R"

Living in sunny Singapore, many of us may not take very well to the idea of leather, unless its what our couch is made of. Leather fashion, however, has been a prime denominator in most runways. Almost every fall/winter, most designers put together several looks for fashion fanatics all over the world to savour. And inevitably so, leather fashion seems to be helming the fort as a main supplier of all that is needed during that season: Warmth and Style. Leather of course, can be dated to eons ago, when early purveyors began to treat leather in various different methods to achieve a certain desired texture, colour or feel.

This Fall/Winter, however, our leather fashion comes in highly stitched and trendy patterns. All the way from Jackets, Pants, Skirts and even dresses, leather rules all this season. Be it a small dash of accessory charm, or a complete guide for a head-to-toe leather ensemble, we have you covered. Here are our Wicked picks this season.

The Outer: Jackets

Leather Jackets are the most popular in the pop-culture scene. Especially for those into motorbike races, leather jackets make somewhat of a fashion statement. Besides it's style and sense of rocker-chic aura, leather jackets serve a very real function of keeping the skin of avid bikers intact, in the event of a scrapping accident. The more battered, the better.

Really Juicy Couture

Juicy Couture would like us to know that L.A loves London.

Such is the new theme behind the latest fall collection from multi-faceted fashion label Juicy Couture. Started by two fashion-fanatics back in 1997, Juicy Couture stands to surprise us all with its latest offering for the cool & sexy girl about town.

The theme L.A loves london has seen many collaborations in fabric an styling for this brand. Why we love JC? Its hip and about-town style makes anyone want to own a piece from this brand. Classy sophistication and laid-back style come together in the various looks aligned. JC has made it possible for the modern girl to look chic and elegant, and yet like someone who can laugh at herself and not take things too seriously. Work in some prints provided (paisleys, for example) into your everyday ensemble.  Just a touch of it will go a long way. Unfamiliar treatment of familiar fabrics also creates a new, hip trend to follow. Looking glamourous and effortless is tough. Don on a plain coloured piece to create depth to your everyday chic, and match it with accessories and bags of different volumes. All these create a look of ultimate effortless sophistication, one that many will work hard to achieve.

The Vintage Kiss: Club Monaco

The vintage feel is now sweeping the world of design, even though its a movement found some time ago. The new vintage is lesser enhanced the old vintage. Now, step out with vintage as though its a kiss on your lips, as opposed to a running advertisement for vintage fashion. Especially with fall, colors are louder than prints, with forms as strong as personalities. Reflect this movement by going the vintage accessory way. Pick a few vintage pieces with a certain aged quality (not rusty please), and pair with with a deeply colored ensemble.

Club Monaco has long been a local favorite. With innovative design and capturing season sensitivity, Club Monaco has managed to always remain on the forefront of the Fashion field. This Fall is not any different, with a brand new collection that draws inspiration from Sonia Delaunay's block prints, Linda McCartney's Life in Photographs and the men of Silent Generation. These various elements have contributed to a must have collection, with colors and textures that are new and in line with the Fall weather. Somehow, Club Monaco has managed to bring to the market a collection that fits every girl in Singapore. There's the maxi for the boho chic, the classic cinched-at-waist dress for the vintage chasers, and the clean cut skirts with jackets, which will be great for today's career woman. If you worry that you fall in between, no matter. This label has something for those who want something. Singapore is fast becoming, or rather, has already become and yet fast developing into, a cosmopolitan state. Stay in the know and on the fashion radar by arming yourself with these fabulous finds for the city girl. Look sharp, everyday of the week.
